Wakefield and Morley Liberal Democrats work hard for you throughout the Wakefield MDC and Morley Area, standing up for your rights, protecting your freedoms, and dealing with the problems that affect you.

Voters certainly showed what they thought of the Lib Dems in Coalition with the Conservatives in the May 2011 Council Elections, where we lost our last seat in the Wakefield area – Ossett. The issues voters felt with Lib Dem MPs over coalition decisions really hit local Lib Dem parties hard throughout the country, we lost a lot of seats. We listen to your concerns, and realise we weren’t being seen to stand up and shout out loud enough for Liberal values from within the Coalition.

We don’t agree with the Conservatives or Labour on so many diverse subjects but, in the Country’s interests, we’re working in coalition with the Tories to help Britain recover from 13 years of Labour abuse, and from a global economic downturn in which many of our European neighbours have suffered economic ruin, one where even the mighty USA is struggling.

We’re the minority party in the coalition, so we don’t get everything we want, and sometimes we have to tolerate things we would definitely not have, had the Lib Dems been in power alone. Our MPs are working hard behind the scenes in and around Parliament, and we’ve already got lots of great Liberal policies into action – such as freeing almost a million people from paying any Income Tax at all, and all basic rate taxpayers paying £200 less, with a year-on-year rise in the allowance up to £10,000. Earn any less, pay no Income Tax – a Lib Dem policy for those that need it most.
